Terms
Flags on Bags is a personal travel app. It does not show advertising and it does not sell your data.
Where there is a charge, the price will be shown by the relevant app store before you download or purchase it. Any payment made through an app store is also subject to that store’s terms.
Your collection is yours
The countries and places you mark, along with any dates, notes and custom places you add, belong to you.
You can export your collection at any time and use that file to restore it into another copy of Flags on Bags. We do not claim any rights over what you add beyond what is needed to store it and show it back to you.
Using the app
Use Flags on Bags for its intended purpose and for your own personal collection. Do not try to access somebody else’s data or use the app to store anything unlawful.
There are no posts, messages or comments in Flags on Bags, and no way for one person to send anything to another through it.
Nothing is visible to anybody else unless you choose to share it. You can create a private link to one traveller’s collection, and you can make your own collection public. Either shows the name you have given that traveller and the countries marked as visited or lived, with years where you have added them. Your notes are never included. A private link can be revoked and a public collection can be made private again, both from inside the app.
Because a shared collection carries a name you have chosen, please do not use a name you would not want a stranger to read. If something shared through Flags on Bags needs reporting, the address at the bottom of this page reaches the person who runs it.
Accounts
You do not need an account to keep a collection on your device.
If you create an account, its purpose is to allow your collection to move between your devices and to provide any other account-based features shown in the app.
You are responsible for access to the email address you use to sign in. If somebody can access that inbox, they may also be able to access your Flags on Bags account. The app does not use a separate password for you to remember.
You can delete your account from inside the app at any time.
We may suspend or close an account if it is being used to attack, interfere with or abuse the service. Where reasonably possible, we will let you know using the email address attached to the account.
What the app does not promise
The country list is based on ISO 3166-1 and the map uses data from Natural Earth. These are data sources and standards, not statements about sovereignty or recognition. Flags on Bags does not try to settle disputed borders or political disagreements.
Population figures and similar statistics are estimates and, where relevant, include the year they relate to. The information in the app is there to help you enjoy and understand your collection. It should not be treated as an authoritative source for legal, political, geographical or other professional purposes.
Flags on Bags is provided as it is. It is a small independent project by someone with a passion for travel, flags and geography. It is not a service backed by a large support team. Bugs may happen, features may change and the app or its online services may occasionally be unavailable.
If your collection matters to you, keep an export somewhere safe. Exporting your collection does not require an account.
Purchases
If you pay for Flags on Bags through an app store, that purchase is handled by the store rather than directly by Flags on Bags. Payment, refunds and similar matters may therefore also be governed by the rules of Apple, Google or whichever store supplied the app.
Paying for the app does not guarantee that every feature will always remain unchanged or that the app will be available indefinitely. We will, however, try not to remove functionality people have paid for without good reason.
Liability
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability where the law does not allow it to be excluded or limited, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence or for fraud.
Otherwise, to the fullest extent permitted by law, Flags on Bags is not responsible for losses arising from your use of, or inability to use, the app, its data or its online services.
Changes
These terms may change as the app changes.
The date below will be updated whenever they do. If a change materially affects how you use Flags on Bags, we will make reasonable efforts to tell you in the app rather than expecting you to find it here yourself.
Who runs this
Flags on Bags is run by one person, not a company with a support department.
Questions can be sent to hello@flagsonbags.com. They will be read by the person who runs the app.
